You’ve reached the Arctic Circle, Dempster Highway, Yukon

Probably one of the least travelled roads, the Dempster Highway starts about an hour from Dawson City and stretches 742 km north to Inuvik, cutting through two rugged mountain ranges, the Ogilvie and Richardson Mountains. At kilometer 405.6 we stop at the Arctic Circle Monument. Here the roadbed is built-up over 3 meters above the surrounding tundra to protect the permafrost and the road surface.
